"Green" buildings are not so more expensive to construct than regular buildings than thought by many. Direct and indirect CO2 emissions coming from the construction and management of buildings are much higher than usually estimated. A global survey by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) brought up on one hand that the "green" buildings are only 5% or less more expensive to build than regular buildings. On the other hand, the percentage of direct and indirect CO2 emissions coming from the construction and the management of buildings is around 40%. These figures show very clearly, that "green buildings" are sure an option to be considered. Unfortunately, professionals are not always aware of it. Only 3% of professionals in Japan have experience of green building practices compared to 45% in Germany. While, "personal know-how" is seen as the most influential factor on whether such projects are considered. Education is therefore a key factor for managing the rapid transformation the world is undergoing. Let us take up that challenge.
